We are “Going Beyond”
Today was a historic day for Greenville Oaks. It was a very good day!
We believe, as Christopher Columbus proved that there is much “More Beyond.” And we believe with confident assurance that the vision we presented this morning will become reality. Why? Because we are simply acting on God’s direction and everything is possible with God.
As related in Mark 9:14-29, when a boy’s father brought him to Jesus for healing the father said, “… if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” Then Jesus rebuked him for questioning His ability and replied, “Everything is possible for him who believes.” So, just as the father quickly exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” we must seize the vision God has given us and rely on His power to use it and us to achieve our mission and bring glory to Him.
We cannot allow ourselves to be bogged down with the man-made expectation and distraction of only trying to “do church right” – God expects so much more. He wants us to love Him so much and be so faithful to His will that we help as many of His children as possible to come to truly know Him. Scripture introduces us to God’s story and explains His faithfulness and desire for us, His creation, to seek to know Him. The Bible also gives us insight into the mind of God and helps us understand how to be like Jesus and to see God in our everyday lives. As we recognize how God is working today, we can join in His continuing story. When that happens, God will blow our vision out of the water. As Jesus said in Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you, a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured to you.” When we give our all to God, He will bless us and as many people as we can bring along with a much better life now and a joyful eternity with Him.
