Teresa grew up in Denton and is proud to say that she is a sixth generation Texan. She graduated from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Sociology and originally planned to get a master’s degree in counseling. After college, she moved back to Denton and began working in the Employee Relations & Training division of Human Resources at the University of North Texas. At UNT, Teresa was responsible for the logistics and registrations for all university training programs, desktop publishing for the Human Resources department and she was the first contact for all employee relations questions. About the time she planned to begin her master’s degree, she met her husband, James…and the rest is history (as they say).
Teresa and James moved to the McKinney area in 1997 and began attending Greenville Oaks (formerly Allen Church of Christ) in 1998. After placing membership, Teresa saw a job opening for an assistant to the youth minister in the church bulletin. The position would use all of the skills she had learned at the University of North Texas as well as the opportunity to work with students (which she had already done at a former church and loved). She realized the position would be perfect for her and was thrilled when she was offered the job. Teresa has been working at Greenville Oaks since 1999. As her skill set has changed and grown over the years, so has her position. She recently transitioned into the role as Graphic Designer.
Teresa and James have a son, Dylan, who is in high school. Teresa feeds her creative side by antiquing/junking, scrapbooking and crafting. She also enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors with her family.
