I was privileged to grow up in a Christian environment attending Churches of Christ in West Texas and Southern Idaho. While in Idaho, I had the opportunity to preach for small churches and be mentored and encouraged to engage in ministry. It led me to attend Lubbock Christian and Sunset School of Preaching for additional training. Following graduation, Joy and I went to Montana to work with a local congregation. After several years of ministry, I returned to school, completing undergraduate and graduate degrees in Biblical studies and ministry from Oklahoma Christian and Abilene Christian Universities. It was a journey of twenty-nine years in ministry, learning and being transformed by God. It was a wonderful time of learning to experience God’s grace in new, exciting and different ways.

Joy and I have attended Greenville Oaks since 2008. We have been blessed by the love and acceptance we have experienced and honored to participate in ministry with people who love God with great passion. We are excited about Greenville Oaks future believing that the best is yet to come. In addition to shepherding, I am committed to our dream of becoming a church planting church. I am working with the partnering circle that advises our church planting family, Kevin and Lisa Vance in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Joy and I married in 1973 and have a son and daughter. Our son, Bart is a senior accountant. He and his wife and children live in the area. Becky, our daughter, is a Vice President of Finance with a local corporation. Joy is a retired professional educator with the Garland school district and I am involved in the real estate industry as a broker associate with a local real estate firm.
