Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
When and where can children and adults attend Bible class?
Classes are available for all ages on Sunday mornings from 9:50 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Building maps and assistance are available at the Welcome Center located in the main foyer.
What do you teach?
We teach age-appropriate lessons straight from the Bible.
Do you have Children's Worship available during the regular adult worship service?
Yes. A nursery is available for infants through two years old. Children age three through fifth grade are offered age-appropriate worship experiences during the entire worship time that will engage them and help them connect with one another. A time of praise and worship to our God will be a large part of this time together with dramatic storytelling that will reinforce the biblical story and concepts. We will also have a time of communion and a GO Kids offering.
After checking in their children, parents may drop their children off at the appropriate Children's Worship locations.
Who will teach my children?
Caring, energetic Volunteers from Greenville Oaks Church teach our children. Our teachers are moms and dads, aunts and uncles, grandmas and grandpas and caring adults who have a heart for teaching and want to share God's love with children. Safe Place training and a professional background check are required for all adults who volunteer in our Children's Ministry.
How will I know my children are safe?
The safety of our children is one of our highest priorities. A professional background check and Safe Place certification is required for everyone who works with our children (Birth - High School). All volunteers are encouraged to wear their Safe Place badges when working with children and must re-certify every three years.
Nut free, gluten free snacks are provided at the end of our 8:30 a.m. worship service and at the beginning of our 11:00 a.m. service for children Ages Two through Second Grade. We appreciate parents sending a snack for their child if they have a concern. And, we encourage parents to complete the Allergy section in our Child Check-In System and use the orange highlighter provided at the station to make a slash across the child's name tag to help our teachers quickly identify children with allergies.
Infant through fourth grade children are required to wear name tags that are printed when a child is checked in to our Child Check-In System. Parents are required to have their parent tag with them when they pick up their child.
How many teachers are in a classroom?
It depends. In many cases a married couple will team up as co-teachers and as many as four additional "helpers" will be in a classroom for crowd control and to assist with discussions, projects and other incidentals. Rule of thumb is a 1:6 ratio for preschool ages.
Are there other activities besides Sunday morning Worship and Bible class that my children can be a part of?
Throughout the year, children are invited to participate in a number of activities like Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat and Children's Christmas Musicals. Other family fun activities are designed to help our families grow closer to each other, with other families and closer in their walk with God.
What school districts are represented in the Greenville Oaks Children’s Ministry?
Our children attend Allen, Celina, Frisco, Lovejoy, McKinney, Melissa, Plano, and Wylie schools as well as other private institutions and home school.
How can I be a Children's Ministry volunteer?
Contact Children's Minister, Samantha Campbell or call 972-727-2359. All volunteers who work with children (birth - 12th grade) must complete our Safe Place Training (SPT). Our Safe Place Policy seeks to provide a safe and secure environment for all children. SPT includes an application, checking references and a background check.
