A: Making a membership commitment is a very important decision.  Therefore, it is necessary that you understand the information that is presented in Discovering Greenville Oaks.  If you are unable to attend the class, then one of our elders or ministers would be happy to make special arrangements to review the class materials with you.

Q: Can I place membership by just walking to the front at the invitation?

A: No. Because membership is so important we believe it is essential that you learn what this church is all about, what the church expects of its members, and what members can expect at Greenville Oaks before making this commitment.

If you would like to come to the front during hte invitiation time and tell one of our elders that you would like to become a member, that is fine.  He will ask for your contact information and then follow up with you to help schedule a time for you to participate in Discovering Greenville Oaks or make other arrangements to share the class material.

Q: After I commit to be a member, what can I expect next?

A:

  • Someone from the church office will call to determine which worship service you will attend the next Sunday.  At the beginning of the service you attend, you'll be invited to come to the front of the auditorium to be greeted by our elders and to be introduced to the church family.  An elder will lead a prayer asking God to bless you with spiritual growth as you serve in the Greenville Oaks family.
  • The following Sunday's bulletin will include a brief introduction about you and your family.
  • Within one week you will receive a church membership directory and a ministry involvement packet.  Your response to the included ministry involvement survey will initiate a process to help you engage in the ministry of the Greenville Oaks church.
  • You will be invited to attend a new member orientation class (one Sunday morning).  Your photo will be taken for the church directory.
  • You and all the members of the Discovering Greenville Oaks class you attend will be invited to enjoy lunch and fellowship at a member's home.
